Hello and welcome to the latest incarnation of the River Fowey Gig Club website. We’ve been messing about in boats since 1989, starting with enough members to run a couple of crews and the generosity of other clubs to lend us their boats!. With the advertising and efforts by all, we’ve had a membership increase and now have close to 70 members including enough juniors to run both an U14 and U16 crew. However there’s always space for more.

The new training boat is certainly getting used and abused as we put out crew after crew in her... unfortunately it has still to be named (I know, I know... it's unlucky!) Gallant and Lantic, are still with us... club membership is up, with new members contacting the site or just turning up at practices (Saturdays at 11am until the evening light improves enough to see where we're rowing).

If you'd like to get more information please have a look through the uploaded pages or contact us...

Also we have a few other names and numbers on the About us pages.

Finally we've now got a training calendar sorted, so everyone can see when their crew is out on the water.... link is fowey gig club training calendar.

We look forward to seeing you on the water...

Newquay was a good time for the club with the Juniors showing the big 'uns what should happen....The women came a credible 10th out of the entrants, the male crews gave a good showing (the C crew gave it a shot, but missed out on progressing by about 15 seconds!), but the youngsters (most of them bigger and taller than me!) came first... and by some margin at that... They promptly tried to conform with the traditional age old custom and drown their cox but Jer succeeded in dragging one of the crew in with him.. there were tears and lots of back slapping, hugs and thanks... but they're the ones to thank for putting themselves through all the training and hard work to achieve the win!

You may have noticed the change in format (yet again!). This is because the site host changed their software meaning we had to reform the site.. It also caused problems with the Gallery so we're having to start from scratch with that. Please bear with us as we add to the pictures...  Take your time, look over the site and feel free to either contact us, or come and visit.
